Wilderness cooking
Have you ever experienced wilderness cooking? Have you had a private chef cook for you? I still remember so vividly the first time Tomasz cooked for me on the fire. It was a summer evening in Finland and the light was warm and soft. We were on a daytrip and found a basic fireplace close to a flowering field.
His wilderness cooking looked so easy!
He was hustling around, turning the fresh veggies and tortilla breads on the fire with his bare hands. Everything seemed so natural. He knew what he was doing and I just sat there impressed. I was imagining how it would taste when I got the ready dish on my plate. The ready dish was made with such simple ingredients but the taste was just something else.
Knowing the secrets
After getting to know his way of cooking I’ve learned some things. The most important are fresh, seasonal ingredients and the element of fire. Cooking something on fire gives so much more flavor. Listing the things here, I can hear Tomasz in my head, reminding me about the setting. Being surrounded by forest – feeling the wind and smelling the freshness of nature whether it’s raining or shining –
takes the culinary experience to the next level.
So far we’ve had many people participating in our daytrips, trying our wilderness cooking experience. After having his passion destroyed when working in the restaurant industry, it’s so relieving to see Tomasz enjoy cooking again. He’s back in his element and everyone can feel it.
He cooks with love.
Seeing people enjoy the wilderness, sitting by the fire, watching the cooking process unfold right in front of their eyes and – after waiting and imagining the flavours- getting to dive in is magic. I know exactly how they feel. It’s an experience you never forget.
