2024 Recap
A 2024 recap: We’ve heard it’s important to focus on positive achievements, so we took some time to reflect. This year has been exciting and fun for us at Wild Out, and we wanted to share our journey with you. We want to keep you in the loop about what we’ve been up to and where we’re headed. And yes, we’ve done a lot of cooking—chopping onions (and sometimes fingers!) and sitting by the fire—but we’ve also been working on other exciting things that we think you’ll love. So, here’s a recap 2024!
We’ve Been on TV
In July, we had the incredible opportunity to host the lovely artist Sonny’s Inc. from The Netherlands. Sonny is the host of the TV show “Let’s Visit,” and he came to see us with his film crew. Together, we built a birdhouse and enjoyed a three-course lunch in the forest. The episode aired in The Netherlands this August, and you can watch our segment here.
This autumn, we were fortunate to welcome two amazing food bloggers. First, we hosted Jenni, an inspiring and talented creator. She’s behind the viral Baked Feta Pasta—you’ve heard of it, right? The pasta that went viral and sold out all the feta cheese in the world – almost. You can read more about her story and visit her beautiful blog here: Liemessä Blog
Next, we had the pleasure of meeting Clara, a super funny German blogger who runs Taste Sheriff. Her energy and enthusiasm were so heartwarming. She even surprisingly wrote a whole article about her experience with us! You can read it here: Tastesheriff Blog
Dreams come true
Have you already seen our super cool Birdhouse Map? This creation is a result of our work in the LookUp project. This EU-funded project explores the sky as a destination while helping companies develop sustainable and resilient innovations. The project has three stages, each presenting new challenges and opportunities for growth. Thanks to our efforts, we advanced to the second stage, taking us to Zafra, Spain, in May 2024. Over the summer, we refined our business plan and were selected for the final stage! In November 2024 we traveled to beautiful Sibiu region in Romania, to pitch our project and meet the other SME’s, who already had become our friends by this point. We’re happy to tell you that our business was chosen to be one of the three TOP practices of the whole LookUp project! We’re so pround!
Our idea, the Birdhouse Map, was the reason we joined the project, and thanks to the LookUp project, you can now find it here on our website!
We Got Certified
As of 2024, Wild Out got Green Activities certification and Sustainable Travel Finland-label! While our entire concept is built on naturalness, sustainability, and regeneration, we’re proud to have our efforts recognized and certified. This certification helps our guests make more informed and sustainable choices when traveling. Together with the Green Key programme, we can find the best solutions to develop our business in a sustainable way.
More Wildnerness Cooking
This summer, we teamed up with our friend Ruben from Sisutrek to welcome guests from Belgium for a week in a cozy wilderness cabin in Hossa National Park. The whole week we treated them with wild food cooked over the fire. You can read more about the experience in our previous blog post. Thanks, Sisutrek, for an amazing summer—we’re excited for the next one!
We also prepared homemade hamburgers on top of a fell for Finnish guests during a team-building event organized by Elite Performance Camp. They also had two beautiful wilderness dinners on our sandy beach. The views where stunning and the guests where happy!
In addition, Wild Out participated in Kuusamo’s Wild Food Fest for the second time. This local event celebrates wild food and natural materials, with tastings and art displays by local restaurants and artists.
What about the birdhouses?
The efforts of our guests paid off already the first summer! Four of the birdhouses we built in summer 2023 had successfull nestings this year. That is such a good result and the birds have clearly been in need of safe nesting cavities. We’re so happy with the result and the fact that next spring the birds have even more houses to choose from!
Our birdhouse-building community has grown
Our birdhouse-building community has grown! This year, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting people from the USA, Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Israel, and Finland. We’re thrilled by their enthusiasm and effort to support local birds. Now, they can even follow the life of their birdhouses online. Thank you all for visiting and joining our flock!
Something New is Coming
For next summer we have something in store for you that you’ve most probably never experienced before. We can’t share any details yet, but stay tuned for more news in the spring!
Reflecting on this year’s progress, we’re so motivated by our shared efforts and growth. It’s been an exciting journey. Thank you to everyone involved!
We hope you enjoyed reading this small 2024 recap!
See you next year!
